Historically, glowing jack-o'-lanterns, carved from turnips or gourds, were set on porches and in windows to welcome deceased loved ones, but also to act as protection against malevolent spirits. Later, as European settlers arrived in America, the native pumpkin was found to be larger and easier to carve into jack-o'-lanterns. A gorgeous table display. Ruined by these wretched creatures.

It is a shame that squirrels are so cute. If they were uglier, I wouldn't feel as bad about hating them.

This one hurts especially bad because the squirrel stars in a YouTube video. I have always wanted to star in a YouTube video.

I get it. I enjoy the taste of pumpkins too. But that doesn't mean I'm going to destroy my neighbor's yard because I want a PSL.
